A Trillion-Dollar Problem [draft]
This is a draft of our pitch deck pitch page for raising investment.
It’s a work in progress, so please do share feedback with me at alec@tably.com.
The number of data workers is growing
Data work is finding, importing, cleaning, linking, organising, exploring, analysing, monitoring, automating, visualising and sharing. 300m people spend >20% of their time doing it. AI increasing accessibility will grow that to 1bn people within 10 years.
The problem: productivity plummets with data, workflow & team size
Simple solutions fall apart as data, workflows, and team sizes grow. Scalable ones are too complex—unfriendly to both humans and AI.
The (a16z 2024) modern data stack is too complex for most startups and SMBs
Tably is the only simple and scalable data workspace
We’re building the Notion for data work. It replaces Microsoft BI, Tableau, Looker, Excel, your database, Fivetran, your analytics notebooks. It’s the perfect no-code UX for data.
Tably is the only AI-native data workspace
ChatGPT, Deepnote, Hex.tech, Julius.ai and others use LLMs to generate code – uninterpretable to regular users.
Tably is the first to generate intuitive user-friendly “steps”, so people can understand, learn and iterate on their analysis.
Play with this video’s AI-generated steps below, or email alec@tably.com to enable text-to-steps on your account.
Our edge
We’re the only data workspace that’s:
AI-native with “steps” that are intuitive, composable and tweakable by humans and AI alike
Built for end-to-end data work from ingestion and integration to analysis and reporting in one unified interface
Built for speed with a local-first architecture and in 100% Rust—we’re probably the most widely used full-stack Rust web app in the world
Built for massive collaboration supporting hundreds of simultaneous editors – AI or human
Built for interpretability with humans and AI working with the same “steps”, not code
Built for control with support for atomic changesets for overseeing human and agentic work
Built for teams with sharing, real-time collaboration, versioning and access control
Built for adoption with 500+ free integrations, loginless onboarding, no-code UX, AI-generated steps, beautiful charts and sharing
Built for mass market with our alpha seeing greater usage than Series A-B competitors with 10-100x the funding and marketing spend
Built for massive growth with a <$0.20 UAC, strong viral growth loops, and a ~$0 CAC goal
“Impressive. The speed is enviable. Technologically, they are more modern and superior with CRDTs and OT. This is the shit!”
— Humberto Ayres Pereira, CEO, Rows
“CRDTs are the future. If databases were invented today I'm certain most of the effort would be spent developing CRDT databases” Learn more
— Paul Copplestone, CEO, Supabase
“By all means, bad mouth [the state of the art in collaborative tech] to investors and tell them it can’t do half the things yours does” Learn more
— Seph Gentle, Google Wave, ShareDB
~$0 CAC or bust
We’re improving the product until, were we to cut marketing to $0, MAUs would keep growing via word-of-mouth alone.
As we get closer we’re doubling down on cheap growth channels including content marketing, viral blog posts, programmatic email outbound and community engagement.
Our alpha saw 9% monthly growth for a year from targeted search, word-of-mouth and viral content
Our retention curve flattens after around two months and is improving with each cohort as we improve Tably
Our largest invite loops. 11k users initiated invite loops, bringing in 22k new users. The top 5% of loops drove 30% of this growth, with some snowballing into hundreds across their orgs
June traffic channels
Some of the 100k active users during our alpha
Our team
We’re a lean, primarily self-funded team of five, working together for 2-4 years:

Vova Stegantsov, Founding Designer. ex Revolut, Arrival, Yandex. 15 years making complex business products simple.
Giovanni Riva, VP Engineering. Generalist. Just smart. Crunches terabytes of data for fun.
Maksym Yakubych, Frontend Engineer. ex Telegram. Focused on intuitive UX and subtle details. 8 years of making things feel right.
Tejas Sanap, Backend Engineer. 5 years building simple, intuitive and joyful data tooling for humans.

Our ask
We’re raising $1.5m to get us to ~$0 CAC viral growth.
We’re looking for investors who share our vision of a mass-market, simple, scalable, AI-native data workspace.
We’re an unusual team building an unusual product with an unusual strategy. If you’re an unusual investor, reach out to alec@tably.com.
